Simply Janel

Friends and followers, I haven’t posted recently and I apologize. I’ve been sitting on these shots for far too long, so without further ado, here are photos from a trip to Chicago I went on a few months back.

Working with Janel is always a blast, she’s comfortable pushing boundaries, mine as well as hers, and knows what she wants out of a photo.

I tend to refrain from discussing equipment, but this was my first time shooting with gels, which give the crazy red and blue lighting, and I thought it might be a time to discuss the equipment setup. The camera is a Sony A7RII and the lenses used were a G Master 85mm 1.4 and a regular old Sony 50mm 1.8. Let me know if you can spot the difference between the $1800 lens and the $190 lens!

I used two Godox Ving V860II Speedlights with an umbrella and softbox. The whole setup was crammed into a tiny bedroom, which made for some interesting challenges to get the shots. That’s all for now. Hopefully it won’t be so long before the next shots are uploaded!
